Eye on 2024: Vision Care and Safety in 2024
Our latest Advocacy Spotlight highlights a recent Congressional Briefing HCAPS hosted at the United States Capitol.
In April, HCAPS partnered with the office of Representative Dave Joyce (R-OH) to bring representatives from all of HCAPS’s Partners (Johnson & Johnson Vision, CooperVision, EssilorLuxottica, and the American Optometric Association) to the United States Capitol, where we presented to members of Congress and their staff, highlighting the critical work HCAPS is doing in Washington and around the country to enhance patient safety. Eye on 2024: Vision Care and Safety in 2024 outlined who we are, the high quality of care provided by doctors of optometry, myopia’s increasing prevalence, and federal policy approaches and solutions to enhance patient’s access to care.
Take a look at some of the photos from the event and read our Advocacy Spotlight.

The Contact Lens Prescription Verification Modernization Act
Our community of HCAPS advocates across the country have sent over 180 messages to Congress urging their lawmakers to pass the Contact Lens Prescription Verification Modernization Act (H.R. 2748 & S. 4083). If enacted, this legislation would modernize the contact lens prescription verification process and make it safer for millions of contact lens wearers by prohibiting telephone calls with an artificial or prerecorded voice, also known as robocalls, from being used as a method for verifying patients’ prescriptions. Join them and tell your member of Congress: support the Contact Lens Prescription Verification Modernization Act.
Thank you for your continued advocacy.
